Chile, 2006

In 2006, after my freshman year in college, I went to live in Chile for the summer. Chile was chosen, because my mom's colleague was from Chile and talked strongly of the female president Michelle Bachalet, and it would be a good place to learn. This was my view outside on my way to Iquique.

Santiago

I spent 2 weeks in the north of Chile, in a city called Iquique, practicing my Spanish. Iquique is on the coast. I went surfing for the first time.

A few years before there was an earthquake in Iquique. This was the first time that I had experienced living in a place that had earthquakes, and tsunamis. This was also before the big earthquake in Chile that caused damage in 2010.
